Forms of love

Two most prominent poet in Bengali literature are Tagore and Nazrul. They had different perception of love. Tagore’s form of love says:

” Jodi aro kare bhalobaso

jodi aro phire nahi aso

Tobu tomare peyechi hridoyo pane

Aro kichu nahi chai go”

“Even if you love someone else

Even if you never come back again,

I have found you deep in my heart,

And I ask for nothing else”

— A concept of unselfish unconditional love.

While Nazrul says;

” Ami chirotore tobo dure shore jabo,

Tobu tomare debo na bhulite,

Tomar shurer neshai jokhon,

Jhimabe akash, kadibe pobon,

Rudon hoiya ashibo tokhon,

Tomar bokhe dulite”

” I will go away forever from your life,

And yet will not let you forget me,

When sky will node in the melody of tune

And wind will cry hearing your song,

I will swing like a pain in your heart,

Yet will never let you forget me.”
