There is often a time in the history when we see ordinary mass people rise upto the occasion and make great sacrifices for the nation or their community. And often they rise up for wrong reasons as well. This indicates the flaws of democracy. Mass people move by ears, rumors and emotional upheaval to rise to the occasion rather than their head or logic.

Efficient leaders use this characteristic of human beings to achieve their ends (either good or bad).  If a famous person says something it must be right. If an ordinary person says the same thing it is ignored.

Moreover if somebody says a wrong thing with high confidence, people think this is true, while if someone says a right thing doubtfully, it is considered as incorrect. Rarely people do try to analyze things using logic. Be it the case of singur or nandigram or the mispropaganda of the press. How many people try to know the truth? They just go with the flow.

This thing have been efficiently emphasized in Tagore’s ‘Ghore Baire’. This tendency of people to go with the flow have created a lot of damages to human kind e.g. the Assam Movement, Godhra, Terrorism.

Unfortunately the passionate youth are the most mostly affected by that. Such emotions can create wonders if it listens to the logic and create havoc if it goes with rumors.
